Nimo, 25- Coming from Somalia, she’s been finding refuge for 2 years in Indonesia. Without family, she left everything familiar at home due to war, hoping to start afresh at a new country. Though in limbo, uncertain about her future, she finds certainty in helping others.
For her, “Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou” / “Manusia memanusiakan manusia” means helping everyone, regardless of their skin colour, religion, or nationality, wherever and whenever.
That is proven from her contribution to refugee kids as a volunteer teacher in a refugee learning center in South Jakarta. Other than that, she also volunteers to give out food donations to both refugees and poor local Indonesians. “Having plenty or having less, should not hinder us from our duty to give,” Nimo said.
