Rachael Abigail is the founder of Girls Can Lead, a pioneer of young women network in Indonesia. They focus on building the capacity instead of providing aid/reactive program by providing a free leadership training program and networking platform for young women aged 18-25 years old, especially those who come from marginalized areas.
Problem: 17.3% of female representation in parlianment. Indonesia is in a crisis of female leadership. Currently, out of 560 representatives in the parliament, only 17.3% of them are females. The root of female apolitical attitudes cannot be separated from the surrounding environment that often does not support young girls to develop their leadership potential as well as the lack of platform for young woman in particular
When girls lead, they benefit not only their family but the nation. We have more resilient families, less child marriage, and higher earning to our GDP.
