Ever since Liberty Society opened its doors as a social enterprise, we have always been committed to creating sustainable and ethical ways, especially in the fashion industry. Hence, when Nudie Jeans reached out to us to collaborate on their Re-Use Jeans collection, we were incredibly honored to participate in this movement!
Since 2012, Nudie Jeans has become a fully organic denim brand, creating its products with 100% organic cotton. To create a smarter and environmentally sustainable way to consume, Nudie Jeans initiated a concept of Wear, Tear, and Repair. Additionally, Nudie Jeans only works with suppliers who share aligned values with them, which includes partnering with the Fair Wear Foundation to ensure safe and ethical working conditions across the whole line of production.
In this movement, by simply buying a new pair of jeans, you would be directly helping marginalized women to get back up on their feet! All the proceeds of purchasing the Re-Use Jeans collection will be donated to support House of Liberty’s training program. Furthermore, for every pair of Nudie Jeans purchased, you will donate Rp.50.000,00 directly to the cause.
The movement was held throughout 17 March to 23 April in Nudie Jeans outlets in Jakarta, including Plaza Indonesia, Plaza Senayan, Pondok Indah Mall, and ASHTA District 8. To close off the movement, the Nudie Jeans x Ideafest Talkshow was hosted in Nudie Jeans Plaza Indonesia on 28 April 2023 to celebrate the success of the collaboration. Several speakers were invited to share insights on ethical manufacturing practices,including Sandya Lang, Chief Sustainability Officer for Nudie Jeans, Mba Chitra Subyakto, Founder of Sejauh Mata Memandang, and Tamara Wu, CEO of Liberty Society.
Liberty Society received a donation from Nudie Jeans with a sum of Rp.122.950.000,00 for all the purchases made on the Re-Use Jeans collection. With this amount of funds, Liberty Society would be able to host a six months training for 100 new marginalized women in 4 different House of Liberty locations across Jabodetabek.
