On 19th February to 16th May 2024, Liberty Society and Rose All Day started the 3-month tailoring and personal development program, involving 11 women aged 30-55 from low-income backgrounds. These participants, supporting an average of four family members and earning below Rp500.000 monthly, aimed to enhance their skills in sewing, product-making, and pattern-making.
The program achieved remarkable results, with participants' skills improving by an average of 65%. They successfully created various items, such as shirts, pouches, tote bags, and kulot pants, within three months. With 5 out of 6 participants giving top satisfaction scores, sewing emerged as the favorite topic (50%), followed by product-making (33.3%) and pattern-making (16.7%).
Impact Assessment
The program was highly successful, with participants offering valuable feedback for improvement, such as adding more classes and extending the training duration to refine skills in sewing, product quality, and design. The training not only enhanced their technical abilities but also boosted their confidence and productivity, with participants reporting an average increase of 6 hours in productivity, totaling over 50 hours of improved efficiency. The inclusive, respectful environment, free from discrimination, helped foster growth, while two soft-skill workshops focused on personal and professional development, complementing the hard-skill training and contributing to holistic development.
Workshop’s Program
The workshops provided a comprehensive approach to empowering participants in their personal and professional lives. The first workshop, How to Be a Full-Time Worker and Mom, attended by 22 participants, addressed the challenges women face in balancing work and family responsibilities. It focused on raising awareness about entrepreneurship, building self-confidence, and empowering women to achieve their goals.
The second workshop, Financial Literacy, emphasized the importance of effective income management and economic empowerment. Attended by 12 participants and led by Pak Pantar Purnawan, founder of Infigo, the session covered strategies for managing limited resources, household finances, and increasing income sources.
Feedback from both workshops exceeded expectations, with participants reporting a deeper understanding of balancing their roles and managing finances, along with confidence in applying the skills learned to their daily lives.
